The LMS and Instructional Design Lead is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and ongoing management of curriculum and learning experiences delivered through the Learning Management System (LMS). This role ensures all learning content is engaging, accessible, learner-centered, and aligned with program objectives.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of virtual, asynchronous, and blended learning experiences for diverse healthcare and professional audiences
- Develop curriculum, learning pathways, job aids, toolkits, and other educational resources using adult learning and instructional design best practices
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate complex clinical, technical, and programmatic content into engaging learning experiences
- Support the selection, configuration, implementation, and ongoing management of the LMS platform
- Develop and maintain SCORM-compatible learning modules and ensure content functions properly within the LMS environment
- Monitor learner engagement, course completion, and platform performance to support continuous improvement
- Ensure all learning content complies with Section 508 accessibility standards and applicable usability requirements
- Coordinate continuing education activities and support CEU/CME accreditation processes, documentation, and reporting requirements as applicable
- Maintain quality control processes to ensure consistency, accessibility, and instructional effectiveness across all learning products
- Collaborate with program leadership, technical experts, and evaluation staff to align learning activities with program goals and participant needs
- Analyze learner feedback and performance data to recommend curriculum enhancements and improvements
- Stay current with emerging instructional technologies, learning methodologies, and healthcare education trends
Skills
- Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum Development, Public Health, or a closely related field
- Minimum five (5) years of experience designing and developing virtual curriculum and LMS-hosted learning modules for healthcare, public health, or federal program audiences
- Demonstrated experience with SCORM-compatible LMS platforms and Section 508 accessibility standards
- Experience creating asynchronous, self-paced, and instructor-supported online learning content
- Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and curriculum development best practices
- Experience managing multiple curriculum development projects and timelines
- Strong written, verbal, facilitation, and stakeholder collaboration skills
- Experience supporting federal healthcare programs or government-sponsored training initiatives
- Experience developing curriculum for healthcare providers, community-based healthcare organizations, or underserved populations
- Experience managing CEU/CME accreditation processes and continuing education requirements
- Familiarity with learning analytics, learner engagement strategies, and performance measurement
- Experience with webinar platforms, virtual learning environments, and online community engagement tools
- Experience collaborating with clinical, technical, and healthcare subject matter experts to develop educational content
