Underwriter - General Liability / Contractors P&C Insurance Industry 100% remote opportunity for a professional who lives on the East Coast or in the mid-West. Here’s a fantastic chance for a remote job available to professionals living on the East Coast or in the Midwest! The person in this role will handle the underwriting of new and renewing GL accounts, following established guidelines and authority. They'll assess operations, classifications, hazards, loss history, and exposures to decide on pricing, limits, deductibles, and terms. Additionally, they'll need to negotiate and share decisions with agents and brokers, ensuring prompt and professional service. Candidates should have 5 to 10 years of experience in commercial underwriting. While contractor underwriting experience is a plus, it’s not a must. They should showcase the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and make decisions within their authority. A solid understanding of GL coverage, common forms, endorsements, and basic rating concepts is expected. It's important for the person to have good underwriting judgment that balances profitability with service. Strong analytical and decision-making skills are essential, along with clear communication, both written and verbal, for effective negotiation. Being detail-oriented with thorough documentation and follow-through is key. Building relationships with brokers and internal teams will also be part of the role. Experience with Policy Administration systems is needed, and having IMS experience is an added advantage, although not necessary. Some travel may be required from time to time.
