This is a remote position.

The Role

We are hiring an SEO Specialist to join our Melbourne-based SEO team in a remote, execution-focused capacity. You will work closely with the Head of SEO and the wider onshore team, taking ownership of the analytical, technical, and research work that underpins our client campaigns.

This is not a client-facing position. It is a hands-on, delivery role where your output directly shapes the quality of the strategies we present and the results we achieve. We need someone who can operate with a high degree of independence: you will receive clear direction and feedback, but we expect you to run with the work, think critically, and flag opportunities or issues before being asked. To be direct: we are looking for someone with genuine depth in SEO. If you can confidently handle technical audits, produce insightful reporting, and deliver polished content briefs and keyword strategies with minimal hand-holding, this role will be rewarding and full of growth. We want to place real execution responsibility on your shoulders, not just assign basic tasks, so the stronger your skill set, the more impactful and autonomous your role will become.

What You Will Be Doing

1. Reporting & Insights
  • Compile and maintain monthly client reports across GA4, GSC, SEMrush, Ahrefs, and Looker Studio.
  • Go beyond surface-level commentary. We expect genuine insights: not just “traffic is up 12%”, but the reasoning behind it. What pages drove the change? Was it seasonal, algorithmic, or the result of our work? What should the client know, and what should we action next
  • Identify and flag emerging trends, anomalies, and opportunities early so the onshore team can act on them quickly.

2. Technical SEO
  • Perform comprehensive technical audits covering crawlability, indexation, Core Web Vitals, hreflang, mobile usability, structured data, and site architecture.
  • Run regular health checks across GSC and Screaming Frog to catch issues (crawl errors, indexing drops, coverage changes) before they escalate.
  • Prepare on-page optimization recommendations: meta tags, heading hierarchy, internal linking, schema markup, and content refresh priorities.

3. Keyword Research & Content
  • Conduct thorough keyword research and clustering, including long-tail, prompt-based, and intent- driven queries.
  • Build detailed content briefs grounded in search data, competitor analysis, and SEO best practices.
  • Perform competitor analysis across direct competitors, aggregators, and marketplaces to identify content and technical gaps.

4. Link Building & Outreach
  • Support and, where possible, lead outreach and link-building campaigns: prospecting, vetting domains, crafting outreach emails, and tracking placements.
  • Assist with citation building and local SEO activities including Google Business Profile management and local landing page optimisation.

5. General
  • Contribute to any additional SEO work streams as needed, including ad-hoc research, data pulls, and process improvements.
