About OpenTrain OpenTrain is the centralized, open platform where people build careers in AI training and data labeling. The platform helps freelancers discover projects, consolidate proof of work, and grow a durable portfolio of AI training experience—creating a simple path into the human side of building AI. This role is part of OpenTrain’s mission to connect skilled engineers with high-impact annotation and reviewer work that directly improves how AI models reason about code. About This Role We’re recruiting a Rust AI Data Training Reviewer to evaluate AI-generated Rust code and explanations, write model solutions when required, and judge reasoning quality, safety, and prompt adherence. This is a remote, contractor position that focuses on expert feedback to improve model outputs for correctness, idiomatic style, and safety. You will work closely with model responses to identify ownership, borrowing, lifetime, concurrency, and algorithmic reasoning issues, and you will compare multiple AI answers to rate accuracy and clarity. • Role type: Contractor, part-time (20+ hours/week) • Work location: Remote — applicants must be located in one of the permitted countries • Data type: Computer code / programming (Rust) • Labeling tasks include: question answering, evaluation rating, RLHF, and text generation What You’ll Do Day to Day Your core responsibility is delivering precise, actionable feedback on AI-generated Rust code and technical explanations so models learn correct, idiomatic, and safe behavior. You will produce model solutions and clear written explanations when needed, compare and rate multiple responses, and highlight bugs or unsafe patterns that affect correctness or security. • Review AI-generated Rust for correctness, idiomatic style, and safety • Write high-quality Rust solutions and step-by-step technical explanations • Evaluate reasoning quality, stepwise problem solving, and prompt adherence • Identify ownership, borrowing, lifetime, concurrency, and algorithmic issues • Rate and compare responses based on accuracy, clarity, and safety • Provide detailed feedback to help improve AI-generated technical content Requirements Candidates must demonstrate practical Rust experience and the ability to explain technical decisions clearly in English. All required qualifications come from the role brief and will be verified during screening. • 1–2+ years of professional Rust development experience in backend, CLI, or systems work • Strong understanding of Rust ownership, borrowing, lifetimes, and memory safety • Experience with backend services, command-line tools, or systems programming in Rust • Ability to evaluate idiomatic Rust using traits, generics, pattern matching, and error handling • Excellent written English with precise, structured technical explanations • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related technical field • Availability for 20+ hours per week Preferred Experience The following backgrounds are not required but will make your application more competitive. Preference will be given to reviewers who can scale feedback and are familiar with AI-assisted workflows. • Experience reviewing AI-generated or production Rust code for correctness • Familiarity with async Rust patterns and frameworks like Tokio, Actix, or Serde • Experience using LLMs or coding assistants and validating their outputs • Competitive programming experience or contributions to Rust open-source projects • Demonstrated attention to performance, concurrency, and correctness Compensation, Eligibility & Logistics Compensation is hourly pay at $30–$60 USD per hour. Strong profiles make it easier to match with projects that suit your skills and history of evaluated work. To apply, prepare examples of your Rust work or links to open-source contributions, and be ready to demonstrate your reasoning on code review tasks during the evaluation. Successful applicants will be onboarded to project tools and given guidelines for consistent feedback. • Create an OpenTrain account (free) and complete your profile • Submit examples of Rust work or OSS contributions where possible • Be prepared for a short technical screening and a sample review task
