- Orchestrate compute-heavy simulation processing on GCP (Cloud Run, GKE, Batch, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage)
- Build logging, monitoring, and observability so simulation pipelines are debuggable and dependable at scale
- Own platform security: authentication, authorization, tenant isolation, secrets management, and data protection for sensitive customer datasets
- Develop CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and deployment automation (Terraform, Cloud Build)
- Optimize cost and performance of large batch processing workloads
- Collaborate with the geospatial and simulation teams to productionize their models and pipelines
- Set engineering standards and mentor engineers as the team scales, and contribute to core technical architecture decisions
Skills
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production backend systems
- Strong proficiency in Python for backend services and data processing
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform
- Proven experience designing and shipping customer-facing or externally-exposed APIs (REST, gRPC, or GraphQL)
- Experience implementing authentication, authorization, and multi-tenant access controls for customer-facing systems
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Strong grounding in application and cloud security best practices
- Experience with observability tooling (logging, metrics, tracing)
- Experience building developer-facing API products, including authentication schemes, rate limiting, versioning, and documentation
- Experience orchestrating large batch or scientific computing workloads
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience handling sensitive or regulated customer data (insurance, financial, or geospatial)
- Experience in an early-stage startup environment
- Exposure to geospatial data, simulation pipelines, or high-performance computing
