Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. STAXX is a fully remote fractional CFO firm delivering top-tier accounting, reporting, and CFO advisory services. The Senior Accountant will own the month-end close process for a portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy and quality of financial reporting while developing and directing Staff Accountants.
Responsibilities
- Own the close for each engagement: follow the close checklist, research variances, and deliver a complete, no-open-items close ready for fractional CFO review
- Review all Staff work (categorizations, reconciliations, entries) and the financials for accuracy and reasonableness before anything reaches the fractional CFO
- Delegate and direct Staff work, monitor progress and coach and develop the team, surfacing recurring skill gaps to the Ongoing Accounting Services Manager
- Communicate with clients regularly via email and Zoom to field accounting questions and fulfill documentation requests
- Apply the client's framework (GAAP, modified GAAP, or modified cash basis) consistently
- Assist with implementing updated firm quality standards and new firm processes
- Keep in-house project tracking systems accurate
Skills
- 2+ years of accounting experience, including hands-on ownership of month-end close
- A bachelor's in accounting, finance, or related field
- A sharp reviewer with a builder's instinct
- Sound technical judgment across reporting frameworks (GAAP, modified GAAP, modified cash basis)
- A genuine developer of people
- An excellent communicator in both directions
- Self-directed and dependable in a remote setting
- Licensed CPA is a bonus
- Public accounting audit experience is a bonus
