Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. RoShay Services is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to lead the design and development of core data platform components. The role focuses on data architecture, governance, security, and scalability while providing guidance and mentorship across teams.
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve the Iceberg-based lakehouse architecture for optimal performance and maintainability
- Define standards for table design, schema evolution, and data layout; lead cross-team data processing efforts
- Establish metadata governance, adopt open-source catalog tools, and ensure AI and analytics readiness
- Develop security models, partner on policy enforcement, and incorporate compliance requirements
- Build automation for data lifecycle, monitor pipeline health, and improve platform reliability
- Collaborate with teams to align data solutions with business goals, communicate complex concepts, and mentor engineers
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 12+ years of experience building large-scale data systems, with expertise in distributed architectures
- Proficiency in Apache Iceberg, Python, SQL, and orchestration tools like Airflow
- Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure) and cloud-native data services
- Strong knowledge of data security, governance, metadata management, and platform operations
