Medasource is seeking a Network Security Engineer II to support and maintain enterprise firewall infrastructure within a highly regulated healthcare environment. The role involves administration, monitoring, maintenance, and implementation of network security technologies while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and enterprise security policies.
Responsibilities
- Perform firewall rule reviews and lifecycle management, identifying redundant, unnecessary, or high-risk firewall rules
- Build, configure, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise firewall platforms
- Support firewall maintenance activities, software updates, deployments, and general platform health
- Participate in infrastructure and security projects to ensure network security controls are implemented according to enterprise standards
- Troubleshoot issues involving firewall technologies and other network security components
- Monitor firewall platforms and logs, identifying errors, misconfigurations, and system health concerns while escalating issues when appropriate
- Assist with the implementation and support of advanced network security technologies including:
- Network Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
- Web Application Firewalls (WAF)
- Threat Management solutions
- Maintain accurate documentation including firewall rules, change records, troubleshooting documentation, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Ensure firewall configurations remain compliant with enterprise security policies and regulatory requirements
- Support security initiatives within HIPAA and PCI-regulated environments
Skills
- 3+ years of experience in Network Engineering, Security Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering
- Hands-on experience supporting enterprise firewall platforms
- Experience with Palo Alto and Fortinet firewalls
- CompTIA Network+ Certification (required)
- CompTIA Security+ Certification (required)
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, or a related field
- Strong understanding of enterprise networking concepts and firewall policy management
- Experience troubleshooting network security technologies in enterprise environments
- Previous experience supporting healthcare organizations or other HIPAA-regulated environments
- Experience working within PCI and/or HIPAA compliance standards
- CISSP or SSCP certification
- Experience with enterprise security best practices and firewall lifecycle management
