The Merchandising Analyst 2 role involves managing category reporting and providing analytical insights to support merchandising decisions, with a focus on translating data into actionable recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Independently evaluates quotes, sourcing scenarios, and market conditions to recommend sourcing adjustments and support stronger category outcomes
- Leads trend, category, customer, and competitive analysis; synthesizes implications for assortment, pricing, innovation, efficiency, and differentiation
- Prepares full negotiation support packages for leadership, including performance trends, cost drivers, scenarios, risks, and data-backed recommendations
- Owns execution of select vendor initiatives such as new item adds, resourcing, quality improvement, testing, costing, and timing, with supplier communication within defined scope
- Tracks initiative outcomes against goals, reports results to merchants and cross-functional partners, and recommends adjustments to improve performance
- Analyzes vendor profitability, pricing actions, margin trends, and cost-to-serve drivers to identify systemic issues and propose solutions for channel alignment
- Synthesizes multiple data sources into meaningful insights and recommendations that inform category strategies and influence merchant decision-making
- Proactively partners with Web Content, UX, suppliers, and internal teams to identify customer experience opportunities, execute improvements, track results, and ensure launches align with brand strategy
Skills
- 2–4 years in merchandising, category management, or eCommerce related functions
- Demonstrated track record of impact on margin, growth, or efficiency
- Access to a reliable and secure high-speed internet connection
- Access to a home router and modem
- A dedicated home office space that is noise- and distraction-free
- A valid, physical address (apartment, suite, etc.). PO Boxes are not supported
- The desire and ability to work and communicate with other team members via chat, webcam, etc
- Legal residents of one of the following states: (AK, AL, AR, AZ, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NM, NV, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WI, WV, and WY)
- Communicates proactively, clearly, and confidently with merchants, cross-functional teams (Ops, WC, Quality, GS, R&D), and vendors within defined scope
- Tailors communication to the audience — data-driven, concise, solution-oriented
- Comfortable presenting findings and recommendations
- Ability to build complex and complete analysis
- Ability to create standard templates or process improvements
- Owns defined categories or initiatives end-to-end
- Translates data into clear recommendations that influence decisions
- Demonstrates a proven track record of impact on margin, growth, or efficiency
- Cable or fiber internet connections (at least 75mbps download/10mbps upload) are preferred, as satellite connections often cannot support the technologies used to perform day-to-day tasks
- Wired connection is preferred, if possible
