The Finance Consultant role involves strategic planning and leading business transformation projects within finance, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic business transformation projects within the finance function
- As needed develop innovative finance and operational metrics to enhance profitability and efficiency
- Translate corporate strategies into actionable business plans and financial forecasts
- Design and implement new finance organizational structures to support evolving business needs
- Oversee the creation of financial outlooks and gap closure plans to adapt to shifting market dynamics
- Collaborate with senior management to align financial strategies with long-term business goals
- Analyze financial data to inform and improve company-wide decision-making processes
- Collaborate with the executive management team to translate corporate strategy into actionable and financially viable business plans
- Lead organizational restructuring efforts from a financial perspective, optimizing for efficiency and profitability
- Engage with the board of directors and investor relations to communicate financial strategy, performance, and outlook
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in finance, with a strong background in FP&A, strategic planning, and corporate finance
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in leading finance teams and managing large-scale financial projects within a large, complex organization
- Proven track record in strategic planning, financial management, and business growth
- Strong leadership qualities with experience in executive team collaboration and cross-functional team leadership
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with stakeholders and team members
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, strategic planning, and financial analysis
- Ability to develop and present financial reports, forecasts, and strategic plans to executive management and the board of directors
- Expertise in financial systems, such as HFM Hyperion, and the ability to manage complex financial transactions
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and driving results
- CPA or MBA preferred
- Knowledge of regulatory standards, financial procedures, and contract research organization (CRO) operations is advantageous
- Willingness to engage in continuous learning and development, as evidenced by completion of executive coaching programs or similar initiatives
