Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Placed is a co-location developer seeking a Data Center Project Manager. The role involves managing construction activities across multiple projects, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and collaborating with design and construction teams to meet project milestones.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day construction activities across multiple simultaneous projects to ensure they stay on schedule and under budget
- Lead a team of external construction project managers, fostering strong internal and external team collaboration
- Advocate for safety as the number one priority on the jobsite, enforcing compliance with company, jobsite, and regulatory safety requirements
- Lead entitlement efforts for data center developments, including building permits and AHJ approvals; identify expedited permit opportunities and build relationships with local jurisdictions and experts to support project timelines
- Partner with design and construction teams to build schedules that meet project milestones and permit requirements
- Assist in preparing construction and development estimates, project budgets, and unit cost reports
- Lead project planning, including pre-award and pre-construction meetings, value engineering, and negotiation/preparation of scopes of work and contracts
- Review plans and specifications for completeness and consistency, and plan successful execution of the construction contract
- Oversee contractor material and equipment procurement, buyout, and submittals, ensuring alignment with budget and schedule
- Monitor project sites for cost, safety, quality, and schedule performance, including risk management
- Negotiate change orders and manage the resulting cost and budget impact
- Control project financials end to end: reviewing and approving pay requests, coordinating with accounting on payments and lien releases, leading job cost reviews, and tracking costs, allowances, and contingencies in financial software
- Coordinate with the commissioning team on vendor and contractor commissioning to achieve customer turnover
- Manage final project closeout, including as-built drawings and letter of substantial completion
- Solve problems at both a tactical and strategic level, providing data-driven action plans and pre-planning to support executive decision-making and mitigate project risk
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in construction/construction management
- 5+ years of experience in the mission-critical industry
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Willingness to travel domestically for project and team needs, with an extensive focus in the Columbus, Ohio market
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, cloud-based commissioning software, and financial management software platforms
