A full-service Architecture and Engineering firm with offices in Troy and Grand Rapids, Michigan, is looking to add a Mechanical Engineer to their team! This individual can work fully remote, hybrid, or fully in-office. Job Description This role involves designing, developing, and documenting HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and temperature control systems for Data Centers. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mechanical engineering within Data Center projects and will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of system design and implementation. Responsibilities • Act as project mechanical engineer for the design, development, and documentation of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and temperature control systems in Data Centers • Assist lead project mechanical engineer in these design and development efforts • Perform energy and economic analysis for proposed building systems • Attend project team coordination meetings and owner review meetings • Develop materials for client presentations and review meetings • Present mechanical system concepts/designs to clients and/or design review committees • Develop and edit project specifications • Review product shop drawings/submittals • Review and respond to requests for information (RFIs) • Visit project construction sites to review progress and answer contractor questions Essential Skills • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering • 10 - 15 years of relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering • Proficiency in mechanical engineering, Revit, design, mechanical design, and AutoCAD • Knowledge and experience within Data Center projects Additional Skills & Qualifications • LEED accreditation is a plus • BIM experience is a plus • Licensed Professional Engineer is preferred Work Environment This role is fully remote, offering great flexibility. The team maintains a well-balanced portfolio, including projects in Healthcare, Higher Education, K-12, Data Centers, and Athletics. While currently remote, employees may choose between fully remote, fully in-office, or hybrid work options, depending on meeting requirements. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $57.69 - $67.31/hr.
