About the Role Our client, a dynamic energy trading firm, is seeking an experienced and analytically driven Energy Trader to join their team in Milwaukee, Wisconsin . This high-impact role involves actively participating in the trading of electricity, natural gas, and related commodities in various North American markets. You will be responsible for developing and executing trading strategies, managing risk exposure, and identifying profitable opportunities in volatile market conditions. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of energy market fundamentals, sophisticated analytical skills, and a proven track record of successful trading. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement profitable trading strategies for electricity, natural gas, and other energy commodities. Monitor market dynamics, news, and weather patterns to inform trading decisions. Execute trades through various electronic platforms and direct communication channels. Manage and mitigate trading risks, ensuring positions remain within established risk parameters. Analyze market data, identify trends, and forecast price movements. Collaborate with risk management, research, and operations teams to optimize trading performance. Maintain a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards in energy markets. Report on trading activities, P&L, and market outlook to senior management. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field. Minimum of 4 years of direct experience in energy trading, with a focus on physical or financial markets. Proven track record of successful trading and risk management in electricity and/or natural gas markets. Strong understanding of energy market fundamentals, including supply/demand, infrastructure, and regulatory structures. Advanced analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in data analysis and modeling. Experience with trading platforms and risk management systems. Excellent decision-making abilities under pressure and in uncertain environments. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
