Role Description The Electrical Engineer, Automation + EPLAN role is a full-time hybrid position based in Owings Mills, MD, with some work-from-home flexibility. In this role, the engineer designs, develops, and documents electrical systems for automation projects using EPLAN or similar electrical CAD tools. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams; specifying components for power distribution and control systems; and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and safety regulations. The engineer collaborates closely with project managers, mechanical engineers, and controls engineers to integrate electrical designs into complete automation solutions, supports installation and commissioning activities, and troubleshoots electrical issues during testing and operation. The role also involves maintaining design documentation, optimizing existing systems for reliability and efficiency, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications • Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering, including practical knowledge of Electricity principles and applied circuit theory. • Hands-on experience with Electrical Design for industrial automation, including schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams. • Knowledge of Power Distribution systems in low- and medium-voltage environments, including protective devices and load calculations. • Understanding of Power Systems analysis, system reliability, and coordination with utility and facility infrastructure. • Proficiency with EPLAN or comparable electrical CAD/CAE tools; familiarity with PLCs, drives, and industrial control components is highly beneficial. • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience. • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, industry codes, and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC); commitment to safety and quality practices. • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team in a hybrid onsite/remote environment. • Effective written and verbal communication skills for documentation, collaboration, and stakeholder
